We are a small (but hopefully mighty!) Bookshop and Greeting Card Emporium located in the unique and historic Crafted marketplace in San Pedro.
We feature a wide variety of pre-loved books who need new homes, new books by independent local authors, as well as lined journals, blank sketchbooks, treasure journals, perpetual calendars, handmade greeting cards, beaded bookmarks and pens, and postcards.
We love purple. And sloths. And finding new homes for pre-loved books! And creating cool stuff for foodies, petrolheads, and bookworms.

Our ideal customer is a curious, community-minded book lover who delights in discovery - someone who'd rather stumble on a beloved pre-loved paperback or a handmade greeting card than scroll through an algorithm-curated feed. They appreciate small-batch, locally-made goods and like supporting independent creators and local authors over big-box convenience.
Whether they're a bookworm hunting for their next read, a foodie or petrolhead looking for a quirky gift with personality, or a journaling enthusiast who wants a beautifully bound blank page to fill, they're drawn to charm, color, and a bit of whimsy (purple and sloths very much included).
They enjoy lingering - browsing shelves (in person or online), chatting with the shopkeeper, and they value giving secondhand books a second life just as much as finding something new and handmade.
History
Established in 2021.
Purple Sloth Media started in 2021 as a publishing house participating in the occasional pop-up events and books available for print on demand at Amazon and Lulu.
In 2024, we opened a year-round physical store location at the amazing Crafted marketplace in San Pedro. The shop features Purple Sloth Media published items plus more items for the book lover including a wide variety of used books, bookmarks, and greeting cards.
In 2026, we launched a new website featuring online sales of our pre-loved inventory (starting with the 7,000+ plus already available to shop in-person). Thank for you for visiting us here!
Meet the Owner
I love purple. And sloths. And making cool stuff for foodies, petrolheads, and bookworms.
I am a retired pastry chef who now creates food-themed puzzle and activity books, and has turned her love for books into a publishing house and bookshop. If only there was enough time to read all the books on my TBR list and those in the shop!
Creative at heart, I make/design all of the others items in the shop that are not the pre-loved books or PSM-published books.
